Our families, our communities, our states and our nations need Lifelong Learners who are capable of filtering vast amounts of information intelligently, learning quickly, adapting effectively to new technologies and economies, and who are actively engaged in their world.  LI4E is proud of our role in helping build lifelong learning communities through a variety of innovative, hands on learning projects, and looks forward to collaborating with other individuals and organizations to truly help bring Learning to Everyone!

Currently, the Learning is for Everyone (LI4E) STEM Iniative supports FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC)  and FIRST Robotic Competition (FRC) middle school and high school level teams with fiscal sponsorship and mentoring. We believe high quality Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education should be accessible to all youth, and that all youth with an interest in math, science, and technology should have an opportunity to express and explore those interests. We seek to bring middle and high school level robotics as within reach as scouting, and to make it as commonplace, accessible and fun as a pick up game of basketball.    Visit www.TeamDuctTape.com and http://frcteam4769.wordpress.com to learn more about our two great teams.  Most of our other programs also complement our STEM Initiative efforts.

TEDxYouth@TampaBay provides a one of a kind opportunity to engage young people in the sharing of big ideas and deep discussions with others who believe in living intentionally and with meaning in our world.  LI4E hosted the inaugural TEDxYouth event in Tampa in 2010, and has hosted an event each year since.  TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. The x=independently organized TED event – and we’ve been delighted to organize one for the last three years, giving you in Tampa Bay and beyond, an opportunity to showcase their voice and vision in an inclusive, welcoming environment that celebrates their ideas and their initiative.

Tampa Bay Mini Maker Faire is being organized by Learning is for Everyone  for the second year in a row,   celebrating the processes of learning and doing, and providing a place to  share our discoveries, curiosities, inventions, innovations and ideas as inquisitive, explorative amateurs. Tampa Bay Mini Maker Faire is a celebration of regional do-it-yourself (DIY) character and spirit, highlighting both established and emerging local “makers” – of  machines, robots, DIY science and technology, urban farming and sustainability, alternative energy, bicycles, unique hand-made crafts, music and food, and educational workshops and installations and much much more.

The LI4E Tampa Bay Makerspace project was named one of the top ten 10,100, 1000 projects by Creative Loafing last year, made it into the semi-finals with ourRed Bull Creation project during the summer (check out the video below!) andLearning is for Everyone is currently working collaboratively with the Pasco County Library System (a partner for the 2013 Tampa Bay Mini Maker Faire!) , in consultation with James Carlson of SchoolFactory.org, to bring Makerspaces to area libraries.  It was a busy first year, and we’re only just getting started!
